WHAT TIME IS IT?

Telling the time in English

To tell the time we can use this structure:

              IT’ S    +    MINUTES     + PAST / TO     + HOUR

Except:   IT’ S    (HOUR)    O’CLOCK        (cuando es en punto)                                       IT’ S HALF PAST    (HOUR)       (cuando es y media)

DON’T FORGET!!!!     IT’S   + the time

                                                                                                                AM – PM

  • We don’t normally use the 24-hour clock in English.
  • We use a.m. (am) for the morning and p.m. (pm) for the afternoon and night.                                                                                                   3am = Three o’clock in the morning.                                                                 3pm = Three o’clock in the afternoon.
